Privacy
Local Cut Guide is a directory of local ranches, farms, butchers, and market vendors. You can browse every public page without an account. This page explains what we collect when you sign in or send us something, and what outside services your browser talks to. Local Cut Guide is operated by CNR Consulting.
No ads or tracking pixels
We do not run advertising, analytics scripts, or tracking pixels, and we do not sell or rent personal information.
Signing in
Sign in is handled by CorroborateMe, a separate login service. We never see your password. When you sign in, CorroborateMe tells us your account ID, your email address, whether that email is verified, and your name if you gave one. We store those to create your Local Cut Guide account.
Cookies
lcg_session: keeps you signed in. It is HttpOnly (page scripts cannot read it) and lasts up to 14 days. Signing out ends it, and also ends any other sign-ins that used the same account.lcg_oidc: a short-lived cookie (10 minutes) used only during sign in, to tie the CorroborateMe response to your browser.
We do not set advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not store anything in your browser's local storage.
What you can save
- Saved sellers, with an optional note. You can remove any of them on your saved page.
- Email alerts for a seller, a region, or a search. Alerts go to the email you sign in with. Every alert email has an unsubscribe link, which asks you to confirm before it removes the alert. You can also pause or delete alerts on your alerts page. Deleting an alert also deletes its sent-alert history.
What you send us
- Reviews are checked by an admin before they appear. A published review shows the rating, your text, and the purchase month you entered. It does not show your name or email. You can see your reviews on your reviews page.
- Price reports, listing reports, and flags are kept so admins can review them. Listing reports and seller suggestions can include an email address if you choose to give one.
- Seller claims store the contact email, role, phone number, and note you enter. If you claim by business email, we send a one-time code to that address. Codes expire after 24 hours.
To limit abuse, some forms count requests by network (IP) address. Those counters are used for rate limiting only and are deleted after 30 days.
Sellers
Seller listings are built from information the seller posts publicly, such as prices on their shop or website. Every price shows where it came from and the date we last checked it. A price can change after that date, so confirm it with the seller before you buy. Our bot reads public seller pages to keep prices current, and we keep copies of the pages it reads so price changes can be checked. See About our bot.
Once a claim is approved, the seller can edit their listing in the seller dashboard and create API keys. API keys are shown once when created. We store a one-way hash of each key, plus its first and last few characters so the seller can tell keys apart.
Links from a listing to a seller's site add tags (for example utm_source=localcutguide) so the seller can see the visit came from Local Cut Guide. The seller's site then has its own privacy practices.
Outside services
- Cloudflare hosts the site, stores our data, and sends our emails. It also runs the AI model we use to read prices from seller pages. Like any web host, it sees your IP address and browser details when you visit.
- CorroborateMe handles sign in, as described above.
- Google Fonts serves the site's fonts, so your browser requests them from Google.
- jsDelivr serves the map library, and OpenFreeMap serves the map tiles, on pages that show a map.
Each of these services receives your IP address and browser details when your browser contacts it, under its own privacy policy.
Deleting your data
You can remove saved sellers and delete alerts yourself at any time. There is not yet a button to delete your whole account. To ask us to delete your account, reviews, reports, or other data, or to get a copy of it, use the Suggest a seller form (it goes to our admins): enter "Account request" as the seller name, say what you want in the note, and give the email you sign in with. We will confirm the request comes from the account holder before acting on it.
Changes
If this page changes, we will update the date at the top.
